AT&T WatchTV
Stream Anything Anywhere with WatchTV
This AT&T service was retired on November 30, 2021.
With its recently approved Time Warner merger underway, AT&T is about to become the second largest telecommunications company in the world. Rather than resting on their laurels, the company is constantly looking for ways to improve their services and offer their customers new and competitive products.
In June 2018, AT&T introduced its brand new service – AT&T WatchTV.
What Is AT&T WatchTV?
AT&T WatchTV is an over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform that allows users to watch 30+ live TV channels using their internet connection. In addition, the service also offers access to more than 15,000 programs on demand and the option to catch up on any of the programs from the past 72 hours.
This service is primarily designed for people who watch their favorite shows and movies on their mobile devices. AT&T WatchTV subscribers can stream content on their tablets, smartphones, computers, and OTT television boxes. All this is available at a small monthly fee, without having to sign an annual contract or install additional equipment.
What Channels Are Available on AT&T WatchTV?
AT&T WatchTV doesn’t stream any of the big four television networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX) nor the fifth network, The CW. That’s because these are all free-to-air networks whose programs are readily available without a cable subscription. Furthermore, most of them have dedicated streaming websites that allow users to catch up on the latest episodes of their favorite shows.
Instead of the major broadcast networks, AT&T WatchTV offers 35+ channels operated by some of the biggest media companies in the United States. These include:
- Time Warner: Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN, Turner Classic Movies, TBS, TruTV, TNT, HLN
- Viacom: BET, Comedy Central, TeenNick, NickToons, VH1, MTV2
- AMC Networks: AMC, BBC America, Sundance TV, IFC, We TV
- A+E Networks: A&E, FYI, History Channel, Lifetime, Lifetime Movies, Viceland
- Discovery, Inc.: Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Food Network, HGTV, TLC, OWN, Velocity, Investigation Discovery
- Other Networks: Audience Network, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, BBC World News
If you have an AT&T Unlimited &MoreSM Premium wireless plan, you can choose to add an extra Premium channel to your WatchTV account. You can choose between HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, Amazon Music, Pandora, and the gaming and anime platform VRV.
Where Can You Watch AT&T WatchTV?
To stream AT&T WatchTV on your computer, go to https://www.attwatchtv.com/ and create an account using your email address and password. Keep in mind that the only two supported browsers are Google Chrome (version 50.0+) and Safari.
You can also use the service on the following devices:
- Android devices running on Android 4.4 or higher
- iPhone and iPad devices running on iOS 10 or higher
- Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV boxes
- Roku devices, streaming players, and apps
To use AT&T WatchTV on one of your devices, simply download the official app from your app store. The service is only available in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
How Much Does AT&T WatchTV Cost?
If you’re on AT&T Unlimited &More or AT&T Unlimited &More Premium wireless plan, you can add one WatchTV account to your bundle and start streaming content for free. If you’re on some other AT&T plan or another provider altogether, you will have to pay $15 per month to access all 30+ live TV channels, as well as the content available on-demand.
After you register, you will receive a seven-day free trial, which should give you enough time to test the service and see if it’s the right fit for you. Once your weeklong trial ends, you will be charged $15 for your first month. If you cancel at any time during your free trial, you will not be charged for the service. However, if you decide to subscribe again in the future, you won’t have the right to another free trial.
You can download and install the WatchTV app on as many devices as you want, but you can only watch it on one device at a time. There are currently no plans to introduce the ability to stream on multiple devices at the same time.
How Does AT&T WatchTV Affect Your Data Plan?
If you have an AT&T Unlimited &MoreSM wireless plan, you can stream as much content as you want without it counting against your allotted monthly data. Your content will stream in 480p, which is the standard DVD resolution.
Meanwhile, AT&T Unlimited &MoreSM Premium subscribers get access to HD content, but only until they use up their 22GB high-speed data allowance for the month. When they do, the quality will automatically change to 480p SD for the remainder of the month and won’t count against their allotted monthly data.
WatchTV is part of AT&T’s data-free offer for all users who have an AT&T postpaid plan or one of the eligible prepaid plans. If you don’t have any of these plans or if AT&T isn’t your carrier, WatchTV will count against your monthly data limit like any other streaming service.
