Verizon Fios TV
Verizon TV Services
The television broadcasting market has been in a state of turmoil for a while now. An increasing number of people are choosing streaming services. If you’re stuck on an old TV plan from traditional providers, chances are you’re eager to find something better.
Enter Verizon Fios, with a revamped offering, expanded service areas, and a slew of new features that make it a serious contender in 2020. The biggest Verizon Fios TV packages bring a level of customization that’s hard to match and the prices are fair as well. Keep reading to find out the details and how Verizon uses your watching habits to craft the perfect package.
Packages and Prices
Despite Verizon TV’s tagline, “more than digital cable TV,” that’s essentially all it is, but it comes with some pretty cool features that you won’t find with other providers.
Fios was a bundled service until in 2020, Verizon decided to uncouple their TV, internet, and home phone plans and offer them separately. The unbundled services cost a little more individually, but the upside is that you won’t pay for a service you don’t really need.
Another commitment that Verizon has stuck to is the “No Surprises” billing model. The only thing you might pay extra for on top of the price of the package is equipment rental fees. The first set-top box will set you back $12/month unless it’s included in your plan.
And if that weren’t enough, Verizon got rid of their contract options as well. You can pay for your TV subscription on a monthly basis with no penalties.
No matter what plan you choose, you’ll get all the major broadcast networks. ABC, FOX, NBC, etc. are included with all packages.
Fios TV Test Drive
One of the most appealing plans that Verizon offers is actually not a standard plan. It’s only available to new customers for the first two months but it allows users to access the 425+ channels that Verizon Fios offers for $105/month.
When you sign up for a Fios Gigabit Connection and Fios TV, you can opt in to the Test Drive plan and start watching. For 30 days, Verizon’s digital tool will track your watching habits and recommend the best plan for you.
Once the Test Drive period ends, you can choose to sign up to the recommended package or any other. Ultimately, you get to choose whatever you want but the digital tool will give you a useful insight.
Your Fios TV Plan
Fios’s lowest tier subscription costs $105/month plus equipment charges. It includes a little over 125 channels, but you get to personalize the listing to only the channels you want to watch.
If you don’t want to spend an eternity looking through hundreds of options, you can select five channels you love and have Verizon recommend a channel lineup. You can also change the lineup and the five sample channels every billing cycle.
This plan offers the greatest flexibility but the least value for money in terms of the number of channels.
More Fios TV Plan
The next step up from Your Fios, this channel package doesn’t allow personalization but it has over 300 channels. It costs $129/month but it includes a $50 Visa prepaid card and the first set-top box is free.
As far as the number of channels goes, this is a better value than Your Fios, but it sacrifices a little in the way of customization. It includes the most popular channels that Fios offers plus regional sports channels.
The Most Fios TV Plan
This is the highest-tier package that Verizon offers and it has a price tag to match at $149/month. However, new customers receive a $200 Visa prepaid card, the first set-top box is free and it includes basic DVR. The basic DVR service can record up to two simultaneous broadcasts and has storage for about 50 hours of HD content.
Fios’s Most package gets all the non-premium channels that Verizon offers, amounting to over 425 channels across every category.
YouTube TV
If you’re not a fan of any of the channel packages from Fios, they also offer the option of subscribing to YouTube TV through Verizon. This service costs $82.99/month (with $10/month OFF for the first 12 months) and has all the content available on YouTube’s streaming service.
The first month of this service is free and it offers unlimited DVR storage space. This option has the least content, but YouTube is continuously expanding its offering, so whether this will be a good value depends on your viewing habits.
Verizon Fios TV Set-Top Boxes & DVR Service
With Verizon, set-top box and DVR recording services come at different prices.
The basic set top box rental is included with all Fios TV packages. The box stores up to 50 hours of HD content. Next additional box costs $12/month. Boxes 3-5 cost $6/month each.
Multi-room DVR enhanced service tcosts $20/month. It allows users to store up to 100 hours of HD content and can record from up to six live broadcasts at the same time.
Multi-room DVR premium service is the highest tier, and it allows for up to 200 hours of HD content and records up to 12 broadcasts at the same time. This Premium DVR service costs $30/month.

Fios TV App
Included with any Fios subscription is access to the Fios TV app. This application is supported on all major mobile platforms and gives you access to hundreds of live channels and thousands of hours of on-demand content.
The App also gives you access to your DVR recording and allows you to personalize your Fios account as well as manage downloads and subscriptions. Verizon Wireless customers get a nice little perk as well, they can watch content on the Fios app without using their data.
A Worthy Contender
All in all, Verizon Fios TV is a great option for a TV service provider. Their prices are more than fair, considering that they allow you to fully customize your channel lineup. Two months of access to their entire channel lineup for new customers is a great value as well.
The one drawback that it has is relatively high prices on their DVR packages. If everyone in your household loves to record their shows, that might be a problem. Other than that, it’s hard to find fault with this fast and reliable TV service.
