Does Xfinity Internet use cable or fiber?

Most of the Xfinity Internet plans are cable based. In limited areas, Xfinity offers fiber based Internet with speeds of 2 and 6 Gigs (2,000 and 6,000 Mbps). The main difference between the cable and fiber internet is download and upload speeds. With fiber based internet, download and upload speeds are the same. With cable internet, download speed is always higher than upload.
