An asymmetrical internet connection provides different download and upload speeds, with the download speed usually being much faster. A plan might offer 500 Mbps download speeds but only 20 Mbps uploads, for example.

Asymmetrical internet can be perfectly adequate for everyday browsing, streaming, shopping, gaming, and other activities that primarily download data.
When comparing internet plans, therefore, don’t look only at the advertised download speed. Check both the download and upload speeds to understand how the connection will perform for the activities you use most.
