There are several fees associated with the DIRECTV service. They are:
Mandatory Monthly Fees
- ARS Fee – Stands for the Advanced Receiver Service Fee. The fee is mandatory with DIRECTV service. It covers all the advanced equipment features on your account. This includes dedicated customer service support, and future software upgrades. The fee also includes advanced features of Google Assistant as well as the advanced features of DIRECTV’s Gemini receiver. The fee is charged on a monthly bases. At this time the fee amounts to $15 each month.
- RSN Fee – Stands for the Regional Sports Network Fee. It is also called Regional Sports Fee. This fee is applicable to DIRECTV programming packages that include regional sports networks. At this time that would be the CHOICE package and up. The fee is charged on a monthly bases. The cost is up to $13.99. The exact amount varies by region.
Optional Monthly Fees
- TV Access Fee – With DIRECTV, the first TV is included into the monthly package price. In short, connecting your first TV for DIRECTV services is free. However, each additional TV requires an additional receiver from DIRECTV. This fee is $7 for each additional TV, being paid monthly. For example, if you have the total of three TVs in your home, you pay $14/month for your second and third TV.
- Vacation Hold – As with many services like phone, internet, or TV, DIRECTV offers you to pay a minimal monthly fee if you are going away for some time. This option allows you to put your service on a temporary hold while on vacation for 2-6 months. The charge is up to $7 per month.
- Minimum Service Fee – This is when things don’t go as planned. Specifically, this is a monthly recurring charge if your account changes to minimum service status due to non-payment. The amount charged is up to $9 per month.
One Time Fees
- Activation Fee – This is one-time fee for activating the DIRECTV service. It is $19.95.
- ETF – Stands for Early Termination Fee. This is a fee you pay if you terminate the service during your contract term which at this time is 2 years. The fee is up to $480, prorated monthly. This amount, when divided by 24 months, comes out as $20 for each month of your Programming Commitment with DIRECTV.
- Equipment Non-Return Fee – This fee applies if you do not return the equipment after canceling the service. The fee is from $45 to $135, depending on the equipment in question.
