AT&T International Calling via Long Distance Service

This service utilizes traditional landline (copper wire) and Long Distance service. Long distance plans have mostly been divided into the following groups:

  • United States nationwide calling
  • United States + Canada calling
  • International worldwide calling

Multiple plans are available from AT&T, from fixed price per minute to unlimited time for domestic and calls to Canada. AT&T Worldwide Value Calling plan comes at a low monthly fee that secures great savings on long distance international calls to over 220 countries.

Now, there are International Basic Rates which are prices per minute when calling a landline number in another country, and International Mobile Termination Charge (IMTC) where charges are applied differently when calling a mobile phone number in another country. International Calling via AT&T Digital Phone Service

This phone service is Internet based, that is, calls are being made and received over your AT&T high speed Internet connection. International calling over this service is available with the Phone International Plus plan. This plan includes unlimited calling within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and U.S. Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Marianas when bundled with other qualifying AT&T services. It also includes low international rates to 220+ countries with additional discounts to many international countries.

AT&T Wireless Options for International Calling

When about AT&T Wireless service, speaking about international calling options brings up a bit different approach. The reason for this is the fact that mobile phone services include talk, text, and data. Based on this, AT&T offers various options for travelers. Some of these options for using wireless service while abroad are:

  • AT&T International Day Pass® includes
    • Unlimited talk from International Day Pass countries to the U.S. within International Day Pass countries.
    • Unlimited text to the world.
    • Data usage as per your plan you use at home. International Day Pass lets you use data in all IDP countries without roaming charges.
  • AT&T Passport®
    • This service lasts for 60 days or for as long as you need it. It comes in the form of different packages like 1GB or 3GB for data, $0.35 per minute to any country, and unlimited text that includes text, picture and video messages.
  • Pay-per-use rates
    • This option is for those that don't want to pay for a package. This is also useful if you travel in country that is not included into package, or if your package has expired. Talk, text, and data prices are divided into different pricing groups.
    • Four talk groups: Canada & Mexico, Europe, Rest of the world, Cruise ships & Airlines
    • Two text groups: Text, and Picture & Video
    • Three data groups: On land, Cruise ships, Airlines
